Celebrating Drew’s First Birthday

I met Becky and Daniel a few years ago when I had the opportunity to photograph their fabulous wedding. I totally adored them, so it was to my absolute delight that they contacted me to photograph the first birthday of their son, Drew. Becky designed the cutest party with fun details such as a handmade piñata and a color coordinated cake. We had so much fun celebrating and Drew was such a great model. I love photographing him doing all his favorite activities — reading, playing in nature, and eating cake — he is a kid after my own heart. Happy Birthday Drew!

Tiffany & Evan

Sometimes all you need open field to inspire you. Luckily for me not only did I have a picture perfect afternoon, but I had a totally fun and charming couple who were game on for all my ideas. One of my main goals when shooting an engagement session is to really get to know my clients and understand their specific dynamic. As we strolled through the tall grasses on our afternoon together Evan and Tiffany shared their story with me and their dreams for the big day. They are planning a beautiful wedding, and I can’t wait to help them realize their vision. Stay tuned for the pics in July!

Michelle & Justin in Downtown Los Angeles

Recently, I met up with Michelle and Justin for a tour of downtown Los Angeles. The city has so many hidden treasures. We visited all their favorite haunts making sure to get some wonderful photos along the way. Check out our amazing downtown L.A. engagement session!

Nancy & Michael in Santa Monica

I love shooting engagement photos in Santa Monica.  The colors, the architecture, the rides! So many opportunities for photo fun. Check out the images from my recent shoot with Nancy and Michael at the Viceroy Hotel and the Santa Monica Pier.

Eleanor & Andy Make it Official

The holidays are such a festive time of year, why not make it even for fun and celebratory by gathering your friends and family together for your wedding! Eleanor and Andy did just that when they tied the knot at Wayfarer’s Chapel on December 17th. Eleanor and Andy knew the chapel with it’s impressive architecture and stunning views of the ocean would make the perfect setting for their wedding. It was such a gorgeous day — the rain clouds parted allowing sunlight to fill the chapel as the pair exchanged heartfelt vows. After the ceremony guests were treated to a night of joyful festivities at the Maya hotel in Long Beach. The hotel’s eclectic design provided me with so many amazing photo options. I loved finding inspiration in all the details. Congratulations to Eleanor and Andy, may your wedding day be the first in a lifetime of happy days together.

The Curry Family

I recently spent a fabulous afternoon with the Curry family. We had so much fun playing in the wild fields of Irvine. Alexis and Logan absolutely made me crack up — they are two little characters. Thank you Currys for a great photo shoot!

Lauren & Nate’s Catalina Wedding

As soon as the ferry landed in Avalon I felt like I had somehow been transported back in time. Just off the coast from Los Angeles, Catalina is an ideal location for a destination wedding, and better yet there are no flights, passports, or security checkpoints involved! You really do feel like you have arrived at some hidden European seaside village when you walk around the cobblestone streets and Mediterranean style buildings. Lauren and Nate knew that the Catalina Casino and with it’s Avalon Theater would make the perfect location for their October nuptials. Being avid fans of the jazz and swing eras, they knew immediately upon entering the gorgeous art deco building that they had found their dream location. Walking around the ballroom you can almost hear the sounds of brass instruments playing jazz tunes and the footsteps of couples from times gone by. This was exactly the feeling that Lauren and Nate wanted to evoke with their wedding. They set the mood with help from the Swing Kings and treated their guests to dancing lessons by Rusty Frank. We even set up a paper moon photo studio just like they would’ve had at a dance in the 30’s. It was an absolutely magical night and I felt so lucky to get to share in the celebration. Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Taylor!

The architecture was truly inspirational.
Lauren and Nate stole a moment to rehearse their dance while the Swing Kings did their soundcheck.

Nate and Lauren’s bridal party were great sports indulging me as I channeled Annie Leibovitz for this “Vanity Fair” inspired shot.

I couldn’t get over the beautiful art deco paintings in the Avalon Theater.

This might be my favorite shot. I was so excited to get to incorporate the theater lighting for some really unique wedding photos.

I love how this photo captures the feeling of the moment. Much thanks to Eva Lempert for her brilliance.
After a beautiful ceremony guests were treated to a fabulous party full of song and dance.

The Campos Family at the Disney Concert Hall

I met up with the Campos family for our downtown Los Angeles shoot at the Disney Concert Hall. The Disney Concert Hall is a great location for photographs, and especially great for families because the gardens provide lots of areas for the little ones to run around. I had fun playing with Drake and Marina and catching up with their mom and dad whose wedding I photographed 4 years ago. Grandma and Papa even joined in the fun for a few photos. Thanks Campos family for a great shoot!

Nancy & Michael Fall in Love in San Luis Obispo

Nancy and Michael met and fell in love while attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo so we thought it would be the perfect place to take their engagement photos. Since I had never been I relied on Nancy and Michael to show me the town. They were fantastic tour guides. San Luis is such a cute little town, and full of awesome photo spots. Check out some of my favorite shots of Nancy and MIchael in one of their favorites spots.
